The Triumph Of Evil: Burke

shutterstock_50223313

All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.

Sir Edmund Burke (1729-97)

This quotation is usually attributed to Burke but it cannot be found in any of his works. Although the three ‘wise’ monkeys who hear no evil, see no evil and speak no evil are often held up as paragons of virtue, they are of no use whatever in preventing the triumph of evil. Give me a (wo)man of action any day of the week!
